According to foreign media reports, German automotive manufacturer BMW has officially launched two Designwerk electric trucks at its Leipzig plant. These electric trucks will provide transportation services between the high-voltage battery production workshop and the parts supply warehouse.
Compared to traditional diesel trucks, this initiative is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 9 tons annually, marking a significant advancement in BMW’s commitment to sustainability and green production. By introducing electric logistics, BMW not only enhances operational efficiency but also reinforces its dedication to environmental goals.

Petra Peterhänsel, head of the BMW Leipzig plant, believes that the use of these two all-electric trucks is an important milestone. He said: “We are very happy to embark on this journey with our long-term logistics partner Rudolph Logistik Gruppe. The transition to electric mobility and sustainable production not only affects our BMW and MINI vehicles, but also our production methods and supply chain.”
