On October 11, Tao Lin said on Weibo, “Today the Shanghai Superfactory ushered in a new milestone – the 3 millionth complete vehicle rolled off the production line. From 0 to 1 million vehicles, Tesla Shanghai Super Factory took 32 months; from 2 million to 3 million vehicles, it took only 13 months. Each car is a small step, and 3 million is a big leap.”
Headquartered in Texas, Tesla operates six large, vertically integrated factories on three continents, with the Shanghai factory being one of Tesla’s most important production plants.
It is reported that Tesla’s Shanghai factory began construction in December 2018 and began production in December 2019, mainly producing Model 3 and Model Y. Last month, Tesla’s Shanghai factory also reached another milestone – successfully exporting its one millionth car.

From the first batch of vehicles exported to date, in just four years, China-made Tesla has been exported to many countries and regions such as Europe, Asia-Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, and has been highly recognized in overseas markets.”
In the third quarter of 2024, Tesla produced about 470,000 vehicles and delivered about 463,000 vehicles globally, with an installed capacity of 6.9 GWh of energy storage products.
