Recently, the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) of the United States publicly urged former US President Donald Trump to continue to retain the existing electric vehicle (EV) tax credit policy in the event of his possible re-election. The association represents several industry giants, including electric vehicle and battery manufacturers such as Tesla, Rivian, Uber, Lucid, and Panasonic. The association warned that if the Trump administration cancels or cuts the tax credit policy for electric vehicle sales and production, it will have a serious negative impact on the US electric vehicle industry and overall economic development.

At present, the US federal government encourages consumers to buy electric vehicles by providing a tax credit of up to $7,500 for car purchases, and also has corresponding incentives for electric vehicle manufacturers to help them reduce production costs and accelerate industrial transformation. This policy has become an important tool for the United States to promote the popularization of electric vehicles since 2009.

The US Zero Emission Transportation Association said that this policy has not only promoted the consumption of electric vehicles, but also attracted a large amount of private investment and promoted the rapid development of battery technology and charging infrastructure. The association believes that the existence of the tax credit policy has become an important guarantee for the competitiveness of the US electric vehicle industry and a key step in realizing the transformation of the US economy to clean energy.
