According to foreign media reports, Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory in Germany produced its 400,000th vehicle at the end of September. This milestone was achieved two and a half years after the factory began producing Model Y.
German media quoted Tesla Germany’s internal chat messages on September 25 as saying that the electric car maker celebrated the achievement by giving employees extra time off and hosting a pizza party. However, foreign media said that Tesla Berlin Gigafactory manager André Thierig was not necessarily very happy about this milestone.
While achieving production of 400,000 vehicles in two and a half years is satisfying, Thierig stressed that other German carmakers have recently encountered significant challenges. German media said the executive asked Tesla’s German team if they wanted to be in a similar situation to Volkswagen.
